Tiger Docks Completes Phase II at Lake Don Pedro Marina

Wright City, MO (July 1, 2019) – Tiger Docks has completed its second phase of renovations at Lake Don Pedro Marina in LaGrange, California.  The 43-year-old marina, which was purchased by Suntex in 2017, sits in the Sierra Nevada foothills.  With nearly 13,000 acres of water, the marina sees plenty of boating activists.  In an effort to keep up with boaters needs, they wanted to add a new rental dock, replace more of the existing marina slips to accommodate larger boats, and update the infrastructure.  Construction on phase one was completed by Tiger Docks last spring and consisted of replacing B-Dock with a new 56 slip section and a new floating ADA walkway.  This second phase will add 60 new rental slips by installing a 453’ A-Dock that will have forty 12’ x 24’ slips, and twenty 12’ x 26’ slips.  Since houseboat rentals are extremely popular on Lake Don Pedro, Suntex wanted Tiger Docks to design a new rental dock for their boat club to accommodate their houseboat fleet as well as a variety of other rentals.  This rental dock is a two hundred thirty-seven foot finger that includes uncovered double slips on one side for the larger houseboats.  The other side has over seven thousand square foot of covered dock section to dock a variety of rental boats.  This makes it much easier for clients and staff alike to access the fleet and keep things organized to one area.

To further assist the marina the power pedestals of choice were HyPower’s PowerPort and EnergyMate.  The MarineSynch remote utility monitoring system, or RUM system, was installed in most units. Director of HyPower Sales, Eric Farley, explains “With the changing power need for boats, an increase in transient traffic, and the power needs on the boat rental dock, our system gives the marina the ability to get the right power where they need it, when they need it.  This is not only an advantage in the market place but will also reduce their operating costs.”

Tiger Docks COO Nick Davis was onsite to oversee all construction during phase two.  Nick shared “The biggest challenge on the project was working around the existing anchoring system with a water depth of over 100’ deep, while integrating all the new anchors in and around the outdated system.”  Tiger Docks was able to remove the outdated docks, assemble and install the two new dock sections, and integrate new anchoring, all while keeping the marina functional during construction.

Lake Don Pedro is a reservoir with 160 miles of shoreline. Besides boat rentals, Lake Don Pedro Marina is a full-service marina that includes slip rentals, repair shop, dry storage, café, and a convenience store.  The marina can accommodate boats up to 70’ in length.  There is also a campground located on the west shore.

PowerSnap “Hurricane” Weather Base

With all of the recent hurricanes and flooding we are getting a lot of calls concerning our optional PowerSnap “Hurricane” Weather Base found exclusively on the HyPower PowerPort.

From flooding or a severe gale, water damages cause some of the biggest losses in a hurricane – leading to major refurbishing or total replacement of electrical systems including power pedestals.  NEC code requires that all breakers, receptacles, meters and other small wire components be replaced if exposed to water to prevent shock and fire hazard in Marinas or RV Parks.  The PowerSnap Weather Base is a great choice allowing you to protect your investment by removing the power heads off the bases and taking them to a safe, dry location. The bases are covered with a weather cap to protect the terminal bar.  Once the storm passes, it is fast and easy to be the first back in business – normally with just a little clean up.

This is a great option for coastal Marinas and RV Parks including those inland where high water and flooding create issues.  We even have customers that use them for winterization, pulling the power heads at the end of season to reduce wear and prevent vandalism.

It is Easy to Build a Relationship in the Sales Process

Keep in front of your customer with positive attachments on all follow-up emails or enclosures on written correspondence.  This can include communications during the sales process and certainly after.

It is easy to do!  Attaching a brochure for a local restaurant with a confirmation email says you are interested in them more than just as a paid slip.  As you follow-up with a potential customer, include a how to, maintenance or accessory brochure.  This improves the relationship and eases the sales process while assuming the sale.  It can also lead to larger sales with additional in the future.

Anything you can do to help your customer make a decision in the sales process or reinforce their decision afterwards will lead to more closes, higher dollars per sale or more referrals and repeat business.   Positive content, something that they will find value in outside of the sale is the key to building relationships leading to increased sales.
